Sir MalcBrolm Bruce receives knighthood for public and political services in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2012
Sir Malcolm Bruce has been the Liberal Democrat MP for Gordon, in North East Scotland, since 1983 and is the party’s Scottish President. He is also Chair of the House of Commons International Development Select Committee, became a member of the Privy Council in 2006 and is Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Deafness.
He takes a keen interest in deaf issues and is involved with charities for deaf people.
Sir Malcolm Bruce, whose daughter Caroline was born profoundly deaf, said:
“I’d like to think the knighthood is not just for political longevity but for the work with charities. I got into that because of my daughter and hopefully it’s of benefit to them.”……
